I was born in 1958 in Carlisle, Cumbria. I had several jobs on leaving school in the mid-seventies, including working in the Cumberland Infirmary. After many years, I finished my working life back at the hospital working as a Healthcare Assistant in the Ophthalmology Department.
During my time as a member of Eden Children’s Writers around 2001, who met twice a month at the small Cumbrian village of Ainstable, I began to take a more serious approach to writing. A number of short stories were written but it was stumbling upon the idea of ‘Weasel’ that proved to be the turning point.
Weasel is based on my dog Sophie, who sadly passed away a few years ago, but she was a very clever dog, and the idea of a series of dog books based on what a dog thinks, says, and does was something that I decided to write about.
What does a dog think when you take it to the vet? What do they pass on to other dogs when they meet up in the park when out for a stroll with their owners? What do they think about their owners? Dogs are a man’s best friend...apparently, but is that really true?
Weasel; the Jack Russel books goes through many of life’s ups and downs throughout the first book in the Weasel series. Laughter and sadness go hand in hand, but throughout all of life’s many trials and tribulations Weasel goes forward onto the next chapter in his life.
Weasel meets many new friends throughout his journey; a further four books are already in the pipeline and Weasel makes lifelong friends as he journeys on. I do hope that readers will enjoy this book. Weasel has leapt out of the pages to me and is so much more than simply a character in a book. He is lively, funny, curious, emotional, and all the things that we humans are. So to sum it up, what do dogs...and indeed all of the other animals that walk this earth, what do they really think? Weasel may just have the answers.
Perfect for all ages. If you love Terrier books or just any dog books, you'll sure to love Weasel
